Maybe it's just the weather that's got me down but I'm thinking there really hasn't been anything ground breaking or earth shattering come along in the vst world for a while.

RMX has been the highlight of my year so far. Versatile and quality all the way from the sound to the FX and the innovative way it is laid out.

There really isn't anything that changes the way we look at music/sound lately though... any rumours out there??? :hyper: There must be something really cool on the horizon...

your kidding right!
gurru is looking pretty tasty.
even p5 is a head turner with it's small scale big feature increased workflow, I wonder how many potential sonar customers will pick p5 up in stead of sonar, it looks like a damn centrino, light but powerful.

rmx-nuff said and you already said it.

and of course Abletons got something up their sleeve that's very much likely just gonna kill it when they reveal it so things look very good from my monitors point of view.

If you're bored with what's out there, why not try making your own with SynthEdit or SynthMaker or something? Plenty of scope to do somethign different there, even if its just for your own use.

You mean plenty of room to do SOS-791 Super Duper* Retread Synth to pass the hours.

*SOS (Same Old Shit(tm) brought to you by Synthedit and SynthMaker)
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

- I'm eagerly awaiting FXpansion Drum Nine, with VST(i) support: the mother of all electronic drums!

- Kjaerhus promised us a revolutionary synth...

- Elevayta's mighty Space Boy might be getting a bigger brother...

- more and more physical modeling synths are surfacing

- I want Cubase SX4 and I want it NOW as I'm still trying to skip SX3 ;)

I'm not a synthedit owner, booster or developer and don't want to get caught up in the synthedit thang but there are a number of synthedit projects by various persons that are hair-raisingly unique, musical and inventive, so I think the above statement is quite unfair and inaccurate. Now for my morning coffee.

Don't get SOS synths confused with SSDD synths which do a much better job sounding like real imitation analog synths.

Instead of suffering from GAS approach what you have from a new and fresh perspective.
Groundbreaking could define the new way you learn to utilise some old tools you thought where getting stale for example  .

Questioner. Is there anything new on the horizon?
k-v-rist. Lot's of new synths.

Questioner. No. I mean something genuinely new.
k-v-rist. Oh, like a new type of synthesis?

Questioner. Actually I meant something really new that could help me make music on my computer.
k-v-rist. Wow. You're looking for a new way to use your synths, like a new host?

Questioner. There are other ways of making music besides synths you know.
k-v-rist. Sorry, you've lost me.
