Hello,
Im new to samplers and I would like to know the reasons why would one use a sampler (such as Kontakt)and what are the advantages exept for using already created sounds? What's the difference between puting a sample file into sampler or puting it directly to the multitrack (such as Cubase SX)and then process it with dynamics and effects?
Thanks a lot for your responses

Well it depends if you are a musician or not. If you just assemble loops of audio that other people have created, you don't need a sampler. A sampler is a musical instrument. You can get - for example - a sample library of an entire orchestra. This will be mapped out so that the various string sections are all organised and you can play the parts from a keyboard - with different samples for different velocities (how hard you hit the key) and maybe releases samples (that play when you release the key). Even if you had all the samples, you would go stark raving mad if you tried to paste all those samples into audio tracks just to play even the simplest melody ...
