I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Oh yeah!!! I saw them live 1985ish - man those guys kicked ass.
I remember the bassist puking casually as he was playing.
Psychic... was the first BS LP I bought. i had little trouble getting my mates addicted
Loved the Jack Officers too, Squarepusher's "Go Plastic" CD sounds like a 21st Century remake to me

I saw them at a small place in Philly in '89 or '90. The bar was called Khyber Pass. I think I lost some hearing that night. That was the loudest I have ever heard a band play. (I gotta say it was too loud.)
A lot of energy.

Everything from the beginning up to 'Locust Abortion Technician' is pretty much perfect. I find it's a bit of a downward slope from there, though there was some great stuff on 'Hairway to Steven'. Saw them live around 1988-ish, and it was pretty f**ked - bearded lady nude dancer, sex-change surgery on the big screen.

I agree. And I saw them on that tour too - don't remember a screen though, saw them at a indoor festival.dystonia_ek wrote:Everything from the beginning up to 'Locust Abortion Technician' is pretty much perfect. There was this curtain on stage, it opened to reveal the nude dancing girl - she had the weirdest smile - and the band behind her. According to some interview she was mute.
Anyway, that day they played AFTER the Pixies! (Mmm, Kim Deal
To me, that was the right order anyway, in the 80s.

I saw them (3) times, all in Chicago. 1st at the Metro, started with a guitar delay/feedback freakout, then Gibby ran out with his hand on fire wearing a dress, hair full of clothes pins. Total chaos ensued: bodies flying everywhere, bouncers vainly attempting to grab stage divers, bottles flying at bouncers, the most "punk rock" show I've seen hands down. Kramer of Bongwater fame was on bass. 2nd show, again at Metro, was w/o crazy theatrics, the crowd just stood their with jaws dropped, eyes and pupils wide, musically far better, one of the best shows I've seen. 3rd
show was at the Riveara Theater, they had the whole screens with car crash gross out stuff, naked dancers, etc, just wasn't into it anymore, too many tripped out trendy kids in between Dead tours. "Another Man's Sac" is my favorite by them, a true art-punk classic. I believe they recorded it at their house in Texas on an old 1" 8 track...

Oh, man. I'm sorry. My memory fails me. That was the Dead Milkmen!!! Saw the Butthole Surfers in Texas. The dress comment above was what cured my memory.feyshay wrote:I saw them at a small place in Philly in '89 or '90. The bar was called Khyber Pass. I think I lost some hearing that night.
