Browsing sounds in Sonic Synth 2 is tedious...

While I appreciate the amount of sounds, I find it almost unbearable to browse and double click them with the mouse. I have mild RSI and I hate interfaces that don't have any keyboard shortcuts.
Why can't I move around in the browser using the cursor keys and press enter to load a sound?
Also, why is there no support for the scroll wheel?

One thing about support for the scroll wheel that might be an issue is if the scroll wheel already does something in the host program. In fact, this is a problem where certain mouse and Qwerty keys are already assigned to actions in the hosts and when you are a plug-in you have to sort of take second seat to your host's pre-assignments or there could be conflicts and all kinds of issues. A little tricky there. Although, I agree it would be nice to have the option to turn on and turn of your hosts (even though it still opens up the door for people to create conflicts if they don't know to do that!).
If you read SS2 sounds from SampleTank 2 there is a way to set up two keys on the keyboard to scroll through the sounds like the arrows do.
Another thing you can do is pull out your favorite sounds into their own folder. It is important to at least spend time getting to know your sounds at least if not reorganizing them to suit your needs. It's hard to complain about having a massive amount of variety because you can always cut it down yourself... better to have it than not! IMO.

On pg. 26 of the SS2 manual, it mentions the BrowseUp and BrowseDown parameters. It's confusing because it says "notes from 0-127, -1 means disabled, Arrow DOWN, see3.12). Well, I don't see any 3.12. Does Arrow DOWN mean I can assign this to the arrow down on the keyboard or is this referring to the arrow down on the UI? If I can assign it to the keyboard, then I can use my PowerMate control to scroll through and select the presets. Meanwhile, assign them to 26,28, and 24 respectively works fine for controlling them with the keyboard.
Thanks,

I don't use this feature myself but it comes from ST2. Give it a try with SS2 and see if it works well for you! If you have trouble getting it going you can also contact IK tech support for a little help.

It doesn't scroll though.. You have to hit the each key for each sound. If you have your finger on the key and leave it pressed down, it won't scroll through the sounds.. you have to hit the key again to get to the next sound ( also, it will go through every child preset.. it won't automatically skip to the next new patch..
Chisel, you can aasign arrow up and down to keys on your keyboards ( not arrow buttons on your keyboard ). Arrow down refers to the arrow down button in the ST2 UI.
So, pick the very first two keys on your keyvboard since you are less likely to play those..
do a search in this forum.. I remember I posted which values to enter ( with the help of Jeez if I recall correctly ).

Play it by ear

I tried it now and while it is better than nothing it looks to me like a half-assed implementation. First of, you can still hear the sound playing under those keys. And second what if you need to switch this thing off (for example if you need to play those keys from your sequence)? You would need to edit that pref file every time and restart the whole thing... not very practical.

Thanks for the reply, Pheeleep. I was hoping you could set it to keyboard arrow keys because my PowerMate knob sends 100 keystrokes per second and would be perfect for scrolling through presets. But the fact that even when using the MIDI keyboard, it goes through every child preset makes it nearly useless (just like the MIDI CTL which doesn't have a global save for all controls and has no learn mode!). IK Multimedia really needs to look at Luxonix Ravity when upgrading the UI. The Ravity UI is top notch -- definitely the most customizable, user friendly interface I've ever seen. Oh well, I weighed the pros and cons before purchasing and when it came to bang for the buck, nothing touches SS2

I think they should try to implement key commands... I've seen a lot of plugins that have them and in the hosts I use they usually work just fine.
Cursor up / down to move the highlight, Cursor right / left to open and close the subfolders (btw. a close all folders button on the interface would be helpful too) and Enter to load a patch... even page up / down could be implemented.
This would really make it much easier to browse the sounds.
