I am thinking what is most wanted out of the sampling aspects (format wise, and to some extent content too)

So here is a poll (I put the same poll up at http://audioshots.com where anyone can vote without needing to register first)

I voted other for the sake of not wanting to influence the outcome.

If its other, feel free to expand below.

Best regards,

come on....Giga! Giga! :D

Nar! They don’t want anything else Herman, 70 views and 10 votes proves it ;) at this point sound fonts have no votes at all, so I guess that is one format that really sucks bad. never mind  I was prepared to make sounds available in whatever format proved more popular, hence the poll.

Best regards,

Peter

I think it's always a good idea for poll options to be mutually exclusive. I'm not voting because I don't want to choose between 8-bar loops and SFZ format.

Cheers Warmonger, this quote is cool plus you can now still vote 'Other' ;)

I voted one-shots.
I'm not a big sample user, aside from drum hits. But I'm always interested to find royalty free vocal samples.

I voted other. I want content in WAV format with some form of mapping that I can translate to sfz if required. Loose WAVs are fine if they're unrelated samples or fixed BPM loops, etc. SF2 is okay, too, really.

Kontakt NKI, EXS and SFZ are my preferences - why? Well firstly they are compatible with my samplers (Kontakt and Logic's sampler) but also they are open formats in the sense that you can get at the wav's inside them without having to use a conversion programme so you can also use them as one shots or load them into a mangling or resynthesis proggie for added flexibility.

Depends what the samples are of. Drums must be one hit, instruments can be multisample single notes or soundfonts for me.

Thanks guys :) , I will keep an eye on the progress of this poll, its starting to take shape now and looks promising.

Voted Giga - versatile and the format is well understood so I can use it with pretty much any sampler. It could pretty much encapsulate all the other formats too, except Kontakt or Wusikstation.
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.
