cubase sx1 and sx2 VST preset automation

how do you handle automating of vsti program selection?

i know how to automate parameters

when i try to automate vsti program changes, it has always resulted in confusion.

how i do it

click on W (write), set to the right preset, start playback, at the right moment i switch to another preset, once or more times, deactivate W, stop playback, click R (read).

the problem is the programs in playbacked automation are not the ones i chose.
