Hi guys,
been away quite a while,,
reorganised my studio a bit in a 'mobile' way...
iBook G4 and maudio firewire solo..---->remember MAC USER HERE.

I need a good easy-to-use sequencer.
i work mostly on live audio takes and some little midi work...4-6 tracks its my max work

Been a cubase user and traktion trial..

I see the traktion2 looks very nice but its too expensive for my needs..

I'd like a good seq on the cubase/traktion idea, with some good effects embedded if possible (reverb,chorus,flanger..etc.etc.)

Pls Help!
thx

WOW.......if Tracktion2 is too expensive, you must not be looking for much.....

Since you have already looked into Tracktion2 (which I was going to suggest anyway) you need to look into FLStudio. Check out their website at www.flstudio.com and check out their packages...just make sure to read all the details.

Won't do the OP much good, there is no FLStudio for Mac OS.
Maybe look at Numerology instead: http://www.five12.com/
It's only slightly cheaper than Tracktion, though.

If it's just audio you're after, maybe give Audacity a spin. It's free, and it's free, too.

//edit: haven't checked Tracktion in a while, it seems. Numerology is now quite a bit cheaper than Tracktion.

Garageband 2 does audio and midi, has up to 8 inputs depending on your hardware. And it's cheap.

Audacity is free, but no midi, and it is not the most stable (though improving). Free is nice...

Including Midi, I have found nothing on the mac that compares to Tracktion at the cheaper end, works well with vst(i)s, midi, audio, easy to use. I would suggest saving up and getting it. Otherwise, nothing else I have found for mac pleased me at all.

Zynewave Podium (PC) is only $90. It's great for audio. Learning curve not very difficult. The most stable DAW ever made on PC : http://www.zynewave.com

Please read his request - "MAC USE HERE".

nixis00, I still think Garageband may work for you. There is also Intuem, which is $80 I think. You also may try the Tracktion forum and see if anyone wants to sell T1 (if they don't plan to upgrade) or give you the NFR version (if that's possible).

Just remembered this one: http://www.sagantech.biz/metro/metro6.shtml
Don't know if it's any good.

Metro is decent enough, if convoluted. It's interface hasn't been updated in any significant way in quite a while. I own it and it does have some nice features, but it feels really archaic. The SE version is fairly limited. It definitely is showing it's age.

I wish I had gotten the NFR Tracktion version for the extra license so I could have donated it to someone. Especially for someone that does audio with some midi it is the best all around sequencer all things considered IMO.

why would somebody buy a mac if they can't afford basic software like a sequencer? (well not totally "basic", but for mac users it generally is)

my advice is sell the mac and build your own PC, then use what's left over to get tracktion 2
