I've been looking to buy for a while now the M-Audio 25 keys. I've found a store that has decent prices, in fact cheaper than anywhere else in the city. The rub is this: they have no return policy. The clerk is trying to convince me ( i don't know what these guys smoke) that if there are any problems, it's going to be with my setup. My question is, would any of you guys buy a piece of gear from a store that doesn't have a return policy?

I forgot to add, this is a store that sells new equipment, "Moog Audio" in Montreal but you can't even play the bloody thing in the store. My answer was no as well. i might just pick it up at the local pawn shop

Absolutely not. I would never buy musical gear (Aside from a microphone) if I couldn't return it if there was a problem with it.
Screw that. Pay the extra $10 and go somewhere that allows returns.

I totally agree. I've bought gear made by some pretty reputable companies in the past that's had problems. A month or two ago, I bought a plugin that didn't contain a serial number and wouldn't allow me to install for more than a few days until I contacted the company. I've bought an audio interface that just decided to stop working after 15 days. My buddy bought a synth once that looked like it had had some work done on it even though the thing was supposedly brand new. I also bought a mixer once that just stopped working 4 hours after I bought it. Always find a store that stands behind their products. If that's not the case, then don't go there. When I buy new gear, I just go to places where I like the service. The 10 or 15 dollars that I might save by going somewhere else is just a small insurance policy that if things don't work, the people that work at the store will make sure they do.Lawnmower Of The Damned wrote:Absolutely not. Moog Audio here in Toronto actually rents their stuff out and then still sells it as new. I would not be too suprised if they do the same in Montreal
I would seriously think twice before buying anything from them.

Thanks for the replies guys. op519, that's really good to know, because I had asked about that and the clerk seemed a little hesitant before he said no.
