Hello,

I recently purchased Music Studio 2005 deluxe, and I'm having problems getting the sound set up.

I went to the Magix site and filled out a support request on May 9. Aside from getting an automated email copy of the support request, I haven't heard anything back from them. :?

To test the program out, I tried loading in a couple of the songs included with the
program. When the song "Escape" is played, only the top synth playing in
eighth notes can be heard.

No sound is heard at all when "Tutorial Song" is played.
A small window called "MIDI Loopback" opens, which says "MIDI feedback
detected - disabling Port: 1"

I'm running on a 3 GHz P4 with 1 GB RAM, XP Home, and an M-Audio
Audiophile 2496 sound card.

If you have any tips for getting this running, I'd appreciate hearing
them. I fairly new to this and am probably missing something basic.

Thanks in advance,
--Carl

I own the 2004 flavor, never used it much, in fact never made any song with it. But I did have an issue with one M-Audio driver I was using at the time and the Magix program, I've emailed M-Audio whih confirmed the bug and they released an update afterward. I can confirm that 5.10.00.0027 and 5.10.00.0048a work fine with it.

Beside that I wouldn't know, but have you checked Magix forum?

Thanks for the response.

I already looked for a Magix forum, and didn't find anything at the Magix website, or anywhere else.

Sorry I dont have any suggestions, but I wanted to ask if they have released version 10 yet.
Saw an item over at Harmony-Central about it,but nothing over at magix's website referred to that version.Downloaded a demo, but it was version 9.There is supposed to be a new drum loop creator that looked really cool (according to H-C),but you wouldn't know it from Magix's lame website.

Anyone else?
I still haven't heard anything back from Magix :?

Where are your midi output routed to? The demo sound route the midi to the default output, if it is the Delta port and if there is no synthesizer connected, you'll get no sound of course. Try routing the midi track that have no virtual instruments to Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth, you should get sound that way.

Thanks Kara, between the forum being half hidden, and me being half blind, I totally missed that. I’ll have to try that forum once I get home from work. It looks like the pop-up blocker on my work PC won’t let the forum page open up.

Thanks Ezy Ryder (great namesake song BTW), I’ll give that a look this evening.

Probably you never will...

:D

Darn it, I wish I could help.

I have had no problems and was up and running straight away.

The main thing is to check that you have selected the correct asio audio drivers (audio hardware and drivers) and the correct playback sample rate. The midi studio only supports 4100-4800 and is not 24bit. :(
Also check the asio control panel and make sure it has been set right. I have it running under a 24/96 card with no problems and also under asio4all, again with no problems.
But midi feedback?

Do you have any other music hosts or programs running?

Perhaps you could take a note of your settings and post them up....

A tip from me:

Check the MIDI configurations file. There is anywhere a configuration file in the installation folder of the MIDI studio.

I can remember, that they delivered some years ago a version of the (Logic sequencer), where the configurations file was wrong.

Thus it made not even a peep with MIDI.

Because the MIDI studio bases on the Logic sequencer, it may be, that the configuration file is wrong again.

I guess, they have really no clue, how their (licensed) mass-shipped software works...

... so you shouldn't expect any useful support from them. It is in fact the most terrible support of a music and audio software company ever! A shame!

Go and buy their 10000 Euro "professional software".

Hey J&H and Fake, thanks for the input here. I’m not expecting to hear back from Magix. If Fake could spare some of that snake shit from his sig line, maybe we could mix it into their cornflakes? Image

For drivers, I’m running the M-Audio Delta Series 5.10.00.0036 at a 44.1 KHz sample rate.
I know the machine is running 24 bit audio, with my 2496 card. I tried switching back to my old on-board sound card, but I’m not hearing anything from Magix there either.

Magix is giving me options to select MIDI Yoke, or the GS wavetable synth, or Delta AP MIDI. The Yoke had been selected, which probably accounts for the Loop error message. Setting the channels in Magix to the GS Wavetable Synth or Delta AP MIDI doesn’t do anything.

:)

Never used midi yoke before.

If you don't need it try uninstalling it.

Hey Fake, thanks, but uninstalling MIDI Yoke didn't help with the sound, though the feedback warning is gone. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Magix to make sure I was starting with a clean slate, but no luck :?

I just bought the same software, and the same thing happens with the demo song, only the first instrument plays.

However, I don't have any other problems with it. I just played a few different notes on several different midi tracks and audio instruments, and it works just fine here.
