I just tried demo of the L2 and it works very well! I get a good clean hot single with out clipping. :)

I hear the L3 Multimaximize is good too, but haven't tried it yet.

So I'd thought I'd ask the forum what else is out there that's as good (if any). :D

Thanks for the support,

for the kind of money needed for those look at a powercore with md3 plug-in- i think UAD have a mastering limiter too, but I don't know what it's called

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

percision limiter on UAD-1
i love it.
i have A/B'd with the L2 and L3
the percision limiter bests both of those (in single band mode)
but the L3 takes the win tho because of its multiband usage.. which is powerful for making really hard hitting dance style loudness that cannot be matched easily in software. but the friggin thing is 600bux!

tho. for nice sound and smaller budget try the EAS Finis, and Elephant. both great with finis being utterly transparent sounded (granted only spend about 1hr with it in demo)
worst signature evar

I've not tried L3 yet, but Voxengo's Elephant is way better than L2 IMO. Try the demo.

You might want to try out these freebies before throwing down large money for Waves:

Waves L3 is basically a combination of their multiband mastering compressor (LinMB) and L2. The Waves stuff rocks, but these free plug-ins sure give them a run for the money!

The L2 and L3 are simply not in the same league as the UAD-1 Precision Limiter. Especially for the ridiculous price point of anything by Waves...

Thanks for the tip!

How about TC Powercore with the MD3 Stereo Mastering package?

Has one tried them side by side with the UAD-1 Precision Limiter?

Thanks Forum!

Elephant is really good--exceptionally good. Hard to beat as a matter of fact. Definitely worth a try. The Voxengo effects as a group may well be the new benchmark for native plugs.

We really can't compare L3 in multiband mode to Elephant, Finis, Precision limiter or ANY other kind of limiter because L3 is not a limiter but a Multiband compressor and a limiter combined. The limiting algorithm in L3 is in my oppinion much less efficient than either Elephant, or Precision Limiter (the other two that i've used, need to download finis). Soniformer (or any other good multiband) with a UA or Elephant in EL3 mode will yield much better results IMHO
