New Voxengo product beta versions available.

Crunchessor 1.5.5:
1. Side-chaining reimplemented. Now it is possible to use a wide range of various side-chain channel combinations.
2. Side-chain monitoring now passes side-chain signal processed by the Filter option (i.e. as it is actually passed to the compression stage).
3. More filter options added.
4. Attack range increased to 400 ms.
5. Release range increased to 8000 ms.

GlissEQ 2.5.2:
1. Import and EQ Mode buttons rearranged.
2. In/out RMS level difference counter added.
3. Impulse response display now reflects Mute and Solo switches of the bands.

Please report about Crunchessor side-chain support as it has been greatly enhanced. BTW, newer hosts should offer side-chaining automatically while in older hosts you may enable 'Force Sidech' option to get it working.

Hink, please refresh webpage you see - v1.5.5 should be right below v1.5.

Ah, yes, it's not on the betasite yet. BTW, I plan to finish betasite testing soon - so it will be up and running on the voxengo.com webspace. Without updated forum, though (which is still under development).

I read a mixing tip using side-chain: Have the kick drum control a compressor on the bass track so that bass volume is decreased whenever there is a kick. This will make the kick stand out better.

Can the new version of crunchessor do this trick?

Post

tombuur, this should be possible.

in AA1.5 I still get a message that says unable to intiate effect when the forced sidechain is on. Then AA closes, again I had to open it in FL to resolve the situation. Once the global change is made, in AA it won't even let me open it to turn off the forced sidechain...;)

Hi Aleksey,

New filters are a very nice addition to Crunchessor. Your numbering scheme seems to have got a little out of sequence - this should be 1.6.5 - correct?

Gliss 2.5.2 - solo/mute now shows on the curve - much better. Thanks for the updates.

I agree about the new filters :D

Hink, I guess it's because AA does not support 4-input plug-ins. I can't do anything about it. On the other hand if FL Studio support 4-input plug-ins then they could report their host as having version 2300. In this case you would not need to use Force Sidech option for FL Studio use.

Thanks for your feedback on these updates.

I'm slowly updating version numbering. I've decided to change it. Now, v2.5.2 precedes v2.6 and says it is an update became available after v2.5 release. This should be much more straight-forward.

OK. The reason I wrote this was that the previous version of Crunchessor was 1.6.4 and inside the I.5.5 archive were files with the number 1.6.5.

egbert, ah, I understand - that was my mistake (I should have called it 1.5.4 instead of 1.6.4).

It really isn't a big issue too me (I did buy the pluggin knowing this would happen in AA), however there certainly is an upside. I generallY dislike adding anything like dp, or fx (except guitar distortion) during the recording phase. I just render from FL (and that's not really recording now is it?) and import the tracks to AA because I find it's multi-tracking features better for recording my guitar and vox.

Thanks to crunchessors low cpu usage and gol's fantastic "smart disable" I just use 4 versions each in one of my 4 drum tracks in FL (I use vsampler and dfh, I use the multi-outs on vsampler and assign my drums to 4 outs, kicks, snare, cymbals/hats and toms) it uses very little cpu this way and really brings the drums to life, with little usage. Crunchessor is my "go to" compressor and I love it :D
