so I was checking out drumsample cds don't know why, got too many drumsamples and a drummer but I noticed something, the samples of other instruments like bass guitar and whatever have come such a long way, there's so much great playing out there I got to
wondering how does one list credits of a song if its got drums bass guitar piano and sax but the sax is a loop off of a sample cd?
now I'm a samplist by nature and love to do it but my sampling roots are in vinyL and people can tell they're samples as a matter of fact the 'knowing' of a sample is part of the artform you're not trying to fool anybody your mixing and matching the colorizations of the engineering and other elements but it seemed like almost all of the samples I was listening to today on a sample cd site was stuff that
you wouldn't know was a sample.

Do most people even credit sample CDs? I though in most cases, as a licensed user, you are paying for the right to not have to credit them.
You could, but it'd be like those silly lists of gear you see on some discs (eg the Fabulous Fellas use Kawasaki guitars purchased at Kmart).

i see your point but then do folks actualy say the bass guitar is buy 'me' or what? i dunno maybe i'm thinking too much i guess in those cases nothing is likely to get listed, is that what you mean like a person would probably just say song written by 'blank' and leave it at that.

That'd be my guess. Could you imagine "Credits: wooden block recorded by Squids at Sonic Reality; clarinet recorded by Billy at EW; grunting recorded by Scot Solida for Computer Music Magazine, performed by unknown female; etc..."
Might be fun for someone to do it once as a joke.

btw some sample cds do specify that the source material is credited (though I'm not sure I would use them, for that reason)
