whch plugin is best for that without the least annoying effects you get with that?so what is the best plug in to pitch shift ( i dont want to do it in Cubase SX,because that didnt satisfy me ..)
THANKSS
Can you process tracks with Rephrase?M'Snah wrote:Rephrase.
Not with (useful) formant correction (needed for human voices).bduffy wrote:Wavelab does a pretty good job.
Yes I did process entire tracks with Rephrase, but still monophonic of course.jackle&hyde wrote:Can you process tracks with Rephrase?M'Snah wrote:Rephrase.
And can you actually process polyphonic material with it?
I don't think so.

What it is for?
AudioPitch is a complex spectrum modifying VST effect based on FFT/iFFT (bidirectional Fast Fourier transform), which affects in special the pitch (base frequency) of any audio material without touching the speed (duration) of the playback.
It can be applied to monophonic and/or polyphonic recorded audio content and processes on stereo and/or mono tracks. There is no formant correction inbuilt with this release. Nor is there currently an auto pitch correction implemented (this merely would be usefull for monophonic material with well defined frequency range).
A satisfactory pich scaling requires allot of processor power. Therefore we built in an input signal detection algorithm, which switches the plugin off, if there is zero input. Please note, that this is not the case on very quiet or permanent noisy input.
The plugin is special MIDI enabled and allows assignment of a MIDI controller including NoteOn (keyboard) messages, Aftertouch and PitchBend to control the amount of pitch scaling. Standard VST automation is also possible, of course. All automation will be smoothly interpolated.
Note: It lies in nature of FFT to generally introduce a latency of ca. the 3/4 of the selected window size. So with an window size of 512 samples, a latency of 384 samples is applied to the audio signal, independant of what the buffer size or global latency of the host application meight be.
To compensate this, simply move the processed audiotrack back in time with exactly this amount of samples.
The parameters:
- Controller Assignment: Let you select one of the 128 general purpose MIDI controllers, channel aftertouch, pitch bend and even MIDI notes as a modulation source. If you select "Note" as modulation source, the range is limited regarding the Modulation Amount (12 or 24 semitones up and down). Center position (no pitch scaling) is always assigned to note number 60 (middle C). All common MIDI controllers are bidirectional (similar to pitch bend), whereby the value 64 corresponds to 0% (center position). Aftertouch has two special modi, so that's musically useful.
On MIDI automation, the pitch knob will visualize the changes by synchronizing the current amount.
- FFT Resolution: Selectable window size of the FFT transform in samples. As higher the amount here is, as more latency and "signal smirging" may be applied to the sound finally. Too short window sizes on the other side, meight not be able to reproduce the original signal content of complex polyphonic material exactly. The optimal window size depends very much from the complexity and frequency content of the audio material used. Experimental field.
- Modulation Amount: It looks like a label but is in fact a button. The amount of maximum pitch scaling can be limited to +/-12 or +/-24 semitones (1 or 2 octaves up and down).
- Pitch Scaler: This is finally the pitch scaling factor applied to the audio signal. The range is bidirectional, which means, that the middle position (0%) don't change the pitch. Left position scales down, right position scales up (stepless) up to the maximum modulation amount. Display in percent (+-100%).
Known problems:
When used as an stereo effect, there meight be a slight phase drifting between the two audio channels noticeble. We could not find the reason for this behaviour till now.
We release this piece for free and hope you find it anyhow useful.
