Hm. No clue. I've only used presets with Spektral Delay and have had no problems like you're mentioning. In fact, I generally have to crank the gain way up to really get the effect . . . have gotten some brilliant results with this. You can hear it in my entry in this month's song competition in Part 3 where the voices say "What about the machines?" The swirling delays on that are all SD.
Are the sounds you're putting into it really hot in volume? And are you using it as an insert or send effect?

I've only been using it for a few weeks to any effect, no pun intended. It's nowhere near an intuitive tool but the presets have some gorgeous effects. Great on guitar and voice, haven't used it much on synths or drums yet but I'll be trying it for sure. I'm finding I reach for it whenever I want bizarre and unexpected sounds.bduffy wrote:I think the problem may be that no one ever used that plug-in.

I'm just kidding, of course. You just don't hear a lot about it...kinda like the overly complicated and quickly forgotten Vokator.normal wrote:actually ...

"ew"? Who's that?

Quickly forgotten?? - it's one of the best parts of Komplete - brilliant as an effect and as a synth - people really should give it more attention, it's really not that difficult - I've already made a heap of patches for it (some using Fitches Cello samples - it's a great sample mangler). Does FFT stuff even Reaktor can't do.bduffy wrote:I'm just kidding, of course. Somewhat OT - is spektral delay similar to Izotopes' Spectron? If any one knows. Thanks.

Yeah, I do use it a lot
- I could almost get by with that as my only effects plugin. It works well for reverbs, granular mayhem, comb filtering- all the usual suspects.
The latest version is 1.57 btw- it was originally a Komplete only thing, but I think it's for everyone now (at least it shows up in my update list without any "Komplete only!" in the "What's this?" docs).

Sounds vaugely familier... Have you made sure that your host and your sound card and SD are all on the same settings, ie 4400 4800JonathanDragonDJ wrote:i have just started tryin to play with this as part of my Komplete 2 package....but the volume spikes out on my really easily...and when i turn down the gain...or go to a dif preset that doesnt' spike out...i still get a LOT of static in the feedback loops....what is causing this?...as i have the K2 manual..there's not troubleshooting section. thanks

The thing with Vokator - and I was quite excited about it when it came out - is that it took me hours and hours and hours to get a MIDI channel to play chords through a drumloop, you know: Vocoder 101-type stuff. Vokator takes such long routes to get to the most basic places, it just pissed me off - especially because it's got great sound and features! All that "Tape Deck" crap...anyway, I just found it frustrating, no reflection on yours or others' experience. I do like NI's gear a lot (Kontakt owner)!
Spektral Delay is, of course, a ground-breaking, cool plug-in - but again, the frustration factor was too much for me. And I recall it crashing a LOT.
