FL Studio and Motif ES Rack question

Just got myself a new Motif ES Rack and pretty much everything is working well as, but I'm finding that in FL Studio, changing the the patch on the Motif by turning the rotary dial on it's face, simultaneously changes the track which has focus on FL's step sequencer. Also, the program change button on my Edirol PCR-80 is having the same effect. It does what it's supposed to do and changes the patch on the Motif "remotely", but at the same time, I can see the little green light beside the track which has the focus in FL scrolling through the various tracks. I just posted this over at the FL forum, but normally, I might get a faster answer over here. I was planning to use Cubase SL (System 4) to sequence the Motif Rack, but the hardware interface that came with it has some serious noise issues. Not only does it have a high pitched hum, but it has lots of snap, crackle, and pop. For midi it was excellent. I uninstalled it and returned to an older Steinberg audio Card which I got with yet another Steinberg Packaged deal, the Project Pack which was Cubasis and the audio card. Anyway, without the System 4 external audio interface,(pronounced dongle), Cubase SL 2 doesn't work at all. That leaves me without a sequencer. That's why I'm back to FL. Interestingly, the old Project Card which is probably 4 years old is completely problem free except for the lack of features of the newer Steinberg audio interface. For midi, the newer card was fine, but for audio it was garbage. The older Project Card is performing well, as always for both. I'm wondering if the lower noise with the older card is because it's an internal card while the newer audio interface is a USB card. Anyway, any answers to my original questions somewhere towards the beginning of this rant is appreciated.
