The KOMPLEXER is a softsynth version of the Waldorf MicroQ and is purportedly programmed by former Waldorf developers.
The press release says 'available in Q2/2005'...
This should mean it will be there by the end of June, shouldn't it?

Word...I'm waiting anxiously myself testing this puppy out. Since I also own the mQ hardware, I'm really hoping Komplexer has the ability to export a made patch to micro-q sysex. Think this will be possible??

I agree... it's a pity that there is no software equivalent for itverstaerker wrote:a few days ago i played wit an MicrowaveXT - what a wonderful machiene!!
Sorry for you Kubik lovers, but I don't think it can compete with the MW II/XT.

This looks to be a very interesting synth and I've been anticipating its release as well. I've heard a lot about Waldorf around kvr and was saddened by its demise. Really looking forward to trying Komplexer.

I think you're going to be waiting a while. I can't even find a preview page on their site, only thing there is this press release. These kind of post-NAMM delays are pretty common, I wouldn't expect to see it until at least mid-autumn (and that might even be ambitious), especially given that it is a new market for Terratec.
It's a well laid out GUI, but that and a brief spec sheet is all we have, so who knows if it'll be any good. I wonder how it will compare to Foorius or the latest ConcreteFX stuff? Those plugins have set the bar pretty high for this kind of synth.
It sounds intriguing, but I'm not sure how useful importing Waldorf microQ sounds will be to non-microQ owners. A quick google suggests that there are a thousand or so patches floating about from the Waldorf user forums and the factory patches, but were the presets the real selling point for the microQ? Or is it just a marketing gimmick to get people to think "hey, I loved the microQ, this Komplexer should be great!"

I read in computer music magazine that at the moment Terratec are thinking of changing the 'Komplexer' name , as potensial users may think its complicated to use because of its very name Komplexer.
so when terratec finally released you'll probebly find the product has been renamed.

Having owned a Micro Q back in the day and currently using Kubik I'd have too say they're two totally different synths.
Their soniic character really couldn't be compared in any posible way either.
I still think Kubik is the best wavetable VST with wavesequencing , a good mod matrix and lots of programming options out there in the current market myself.
It is certainly capable of an enormous pallette of sounds . Anything from basses to leads to ambient textures , pads , odd ball atmospherics weird glithing rythmic stuff , vocal/formant style wavetables etc etc...
I like the MicroQ but hated the interface myself.
The Microwave was quite nice also but far too expensive in Australia.
Lets just say since selling all my hardware to get a laptop I don't miss it.
I prefer Kubik's sound myself but I wouldn't really go comparing them either especially when Kubik can do full .wav resynthesis and .wav import with interpolation for a never ending supply of fresh new wavetables.
Where the MicroQ excelled IMHO was in it's internal application of FM.
Some of the BEST FM sounds I've ever heard from any synth IMHO.

probably not a bad idea. even without the 'overly-complex-synth' connotation, its not not a great name. im looking forward to hearing the synth though.CANE CREEK wrote:so when terratec finally released you'll probebly find the product has been renamed.

Hey, they got one potential customer here, I know my mQ inside out and can program it in a blink of eye. But haven't used it so much since got into the whole VST thing :/ Still love the sound. The filters just rock and the mod matrix makes for some great programming!

don't be sorry for us, we are happy as clams to have such a brilliant synth.kybernaut wrote:

should be happy for us instead.
and since it certainly never was meant to be like a waldorf machine, it is not surprising that it doesn't cut it as an emulation, is it?
seriously, i am eagerly awaiting this thing too. i LOVE the microwave.
i always wished that tektonic would have finished CueSynth. It is so promising, but without the lfos and stuff, it is just totally crippled for anything complex... or Komplex one might say...hehehehe.
