I want to reorganize the structure of my sample folder and like to copy the samples from various sample cd's together into several new folders. For example, drumloops of various sample cd's will go into one specific drumloop folder, basslines into another and so on. As several sample cd's I own don't show the names of their files in their booklet, I'd also like to create a list, where I can look it up and search for the origin of one file and, if I needed to, where I can find the other matching samples from the original construction kit. So, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is a way to save the filenames of one folder into a file which can be imported into Excel.

Thanks for your help!

easy

go to a DOS box (they call it Command box now), e.g. Start -> Execute -> type "cmd"

then go to the directory you want to list, and type "dir *.wav >waves.txt" or something like that, and you can import the txt file into Excel

... but if you don't like to do this, I can write a Macro for you that lists all files and subdirs + files into a nice Excel sheet :D

...thanks very much for the hint :)

... as for the macro, I'm pretty sure many users would appreciate it very much if you'd made available for download... :D
