Any idea on a release date/timeframe?

Originally slated to be available spring 2005. Obviously that hasn't happened.

Maybe IK have been a bit too optimistic with their release dates this year. Seems like everything is somewhat delayed at the moment...

You could always email IK I suppose

...Or maybe someone close to IK could chirp in here...

I have a prelim version in my hands and it is astounding! I am already using it in some of my music and it is the first time I have felt like I really don't need to mic up the amp (although, I still would because I LOVE amps... hence, why I love AT2 since it is so close to the real thing!)

So, I would say definitely this Summer but that is a guess. A good guess though. I will give you more info as I have it. I have an early version of Ampeg SVX which is also incredible. I can't wait until they are released. I know a LOT of people who are waiting for these.

Post

Yeah - I can't wait to find out if AT2 performs as good as everyone says it does. There's been quite a buzz surrounding it. Please keep us updated Squids!

Sure. Summer Namm is coming up so it will be featured there. It is not too far from being out. I really love it. It is a smart design and is the one to get for many reasons. Each section is just so darn cool! I love the pedal board, the mic and speaker simulation, the new amp section with the awesome graphics, the tuner is deluxe and it just sounds and feels so much like having the real gear that it is exciting. I plan to use it a lot when the final version is released.

Sounds cool Squids! Will a demo be available, and can you give an idea of what the price range might be?

According to the IK pressrelease MSRP will be $/€ 399.

And there's a special offer for AT 1 owners to upgrade within 60 days of the release for only $/€ 149!

Yes, and there is a chance that those may even be introductory prices and it may go up (and in my opinion should for what you get). But, yeah, that upgrade price is a rediculous deal in my opinion. You get a whole new program for so little and you can keep the old one which sounds different. Those that took my advice to get AmpliTube 1 and then upgrade to AmpliTube 2 (for practically the difference in price) will be happy they did it I think. It's still not too late to go that route. It makes sense since AmpliTube 1 came down in price by $100. If you were going to get AmpliTube 2 anyway then it is like getting AmpliTube 1 for free (and it DOES sound and work differently... plus all the presets)

I got that from IK's german distributor and translated it to english, which it probably was written in originally.

wa used on several titles of the soundtrack album ´We Will Rock You´
So if it's good enough for B.May, what is AT2 good enough for? Is it gonna be used by the Queen for her private concerts? :D

Yeah. Also Peter Frampton, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Joe Satriani and a ton of other great guitar players love it too. I still can't believe that AT2 is the SAME price though! I like AmpliTube 1. It's cool especially that it was the first to do component modeling and custom amp configurations. It has nice presets too. It is still worth getting because if you think about it you can get it and then get the upgrade to AT2 for the SAME price as JUST getting AT2! (that means it'd be practically free in the end so... might as well!). But, AT2 is like a dream. It looks and sounds unbelievable!!!!!! Very inspiring. I am very proud to have been involved in any way I could with this product. I sent a bunch of my vintage pedal collection to Italy (I LOVE vintage stomp boxes... that is the KEY part of being a rock producer) and I was one of the people on the inside who begged for graphics like THIS! I just like seeing pieces of a Vox on the screen. Call me superficial! But, to listen to the AC30 on AT2 (which is different than the "British" setting on AT1) it is just fantastic.

I actually have the "Brian May" custom pedal. It is a metal box with no knobs on it. A friend of mine got it from one of Brain May's techs. It is a sort of top boost that goes into the dark channel of an AC30 and it has that instant Brian May bright fuzz sound to it. Compression on the high end effect when it hits the AC. I sampled that on Vintage Timetraveler a long time ago. Lyle Workman played the guitar for that session (doing his best Brian May. Lyle played on Jellyfish's Spilt Milk and he plays with Beck and used to play with Todd Rundgren).

Anyway, I'm rambling. But, if you like my taste in vintage keys and synths and what it did for SS2 then you'll like my taste in amps and stomps and what it will do for AT2 both now and in the future. The pieces of the "ultimate studio" are coming together in the virtual world! To quote Anthony Michael Hall in (name the movie) "THIS is getting good."

yeah from what i remember even the floor beneath the pedals in AT2 was a very nice wood finish like you are in a rockstar's mansion.

Squids what level guitar player would you classify yourself as? did you ever take lessons or anything?

and my guess is The Breakfast Club but i'm probably wrong that isnt my generation
