Where would use Philharmonik?
Definition:
Option "(C) I would do both with it, as described in (A) and (B)" is meant for those who will use it in about equal amounts. If you write 3 or 4 symphonic and 1 Pop tune a month, choose (A). Thats 75% to 80% symphonic and counts as mainly symphonic.

I'm gonna use it for my pop songs mainly,
Orchestral? Hmmm, maybe I can't resist trying that, too.
But it'll be Pop mainly.

Man, my typing sucks. Of course, the correct question would include the word you.

Definitely in county music. I've got a nice little Rutland-style piece on the boil, to follow up on my Devon collection. Essex next, or maybe Ross-shire.
Three shall be the number of the counting

And the number of the counting shall be three.

We're so sorry...Uncle Albert. :D

What is Philharmonik?

I'm starting to get the idea that there's more synth-related stuff NOT listed than listed.

Guessing by the name, I'd assume it's yet another string synth or orchestral sampleset.

Googling, it looks like yet another overpriced sampletank package.

I'd have to compare it to the orchestral sounds in my RolandXV system.

Yeah...I suppose a library that used to cost $4000, get's updated and now costs $500 is really overpriced. :nutter: :uhuhuh:

Well first, don't ask me if it's overpriced... I can't give you an unbiased answer.

But compared to a RolandXV system?

I agree that the orchestral sounds that come with ST2XL would probably be about on level with that generation. But Philharmonik... from what I've heard, I'm extremely excited. I suggest you try to find a few more demos... I'm personally waiting for tons more demo's and such to appear before I make my decision (although the ST2XL orchestral demo actually sounded very impressive... so I don't know exactly how much you can learn from demo's) but right now I think that Philharmonik is the BEST DEAL of all the orchestral samplesets available.

If you think Philharmonik is overpriced, then I guess ALL orchestral libraries are overpriced... which is certainly a distinct possibility (from my point of view). Or maybe you just don't like how it sounds... but I don't see why :P

Hi James,

It's one of the "cheaper" orchestral library out there. Plus, you can't really compare Miroslav to any other sample library, it's like comparing apples to oranges. :) I guess you have heard of this expression before.

The product is not "out" yet...but judging my using SS2 for a while now, I'm sure it's a top quality product.

Squids is trying to roll out some video/mp3 demos very soon, before you jump all over this product, have a listen, you might change your mind...even if you're did not...that's totally up to you...nobody is forcing you to buy it.

OT:

I find myself going to SS2 much more than ST2 even for the non synth stuff. I like the sound of SS2 more. Anyone else???

Yes I can (and did) - thanks for reminding me of it.
But I can't edit the poll question. My typing error remains and reveals my (non-)abilities to the world. :D

Hmmm - it seems that comment is not transcultural understandable - at least to me. Who is Uncle Albert?

Hey, this is my "How are you gonna use Phil" thread!!!
Not an 'is it overpriced'? thread. 8)

The result is very interesting so far.
So far we got ZERO votes for mainly orchestral usage.

Who would have anticipated that, since it's an orchestra library? That displays the importance of what I said in another thread.
It is a big mistake that the orchestra library manufactores do usually not have demos for Pop, Country, Rock, HipHip and so forth. People wanna hear (I do) how it's gonna sound with their type of music.

If I were squids, I would mail a survey to (some of) my customer base about that topic, give them some epointz for filling it out - and adjust the marketing and advertising according to it's results.
