They've taken it off of their website and I'm trying to get my hands on it. Anyone willing to share, please drop me a line.

One of the main points of Natural Studio's fine print was that they didn't want people redistributing their stuff at all. If he's taken it down, it means he's done giving it away or else it'll be replaced with something nicer.

However, if you email and ask him you might just get lucky. Good luck.

I have it, but to tell you the truth, it's not very usable. Even Douglas himself said on his website that he took it down because he didn't think it was very good and he'll be making a much better one soon.

But if you really, really want it I could probably send it to you over email... I also have the Bjorn Lynne soundfonts (free, but no longer available). Those take up a lot less space and sound better, IMO.

The ns Jazz bass sf was so disappointing to me that it caused me to actually go purchase an electric bass and start to learn to play it.

I'm getting much better results with that than I am with the J bass sf. I paid $119 for my bass at www.rondomusic.net and couldn't be happier.

Several friends that actually play bass like it quite alot.

Hey, that sorta like what I did, too. I'm surprised I even have bass soundfonts and stuff still lying around because I always record my own tracks...

All you have to do is add one live track to a synthesized mix, and it makes everything else sound so much more real.

What book did you use for instrunction (if you did use one at all).

Well, I've been playing electric guitar since 1985, and acoustic almost as long. So, I pretty much knew the fretboard, and I knew how to set intonation on the bass from doing it for so many years on my electric guitars.

I did use a book from the local library for a couple of weeks, just to get used to thinking more in intervals. This was the book:

Here is a link to a newer version of the book on Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... s&n=507846

One thing that this book really challenged me on was trying to think of the bass differently than just a lower strung electric.

All of the interval teaching centers on the D note of the A string; so that there is room above and below on the fretboard.

My approach to electric guitar (I've never had lessons on guitar) was counterintuitive to that - thinking always about open string, 0 fret kind of stuff.

I'll third that.

If you go all out and add two live elements to an electronic mix well then now your really on to somethin'!!
Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good

Well, I'm glad the ns_jbass was so crap it actually forced people into playing *real* instruments for a change ;) Shock horror!

As has been mentioned, I took the ns_jbass down because I thought it was pretty crappy too. I'm going to be doing a new one to replace it, but there isn't a set schedule for that.

If you really need the old one, drop me a line and I might be able to provide a download link.

Cheers,

Douglas.

Hmm I thought it was great for a freebie. Some out of tune notes, but I fixed that myself :)

Yeah - but the idea with naturalstudio is not to use the "free-ness" as an excuse!
