Hey everyone,

Has anyone installed the GS 3.1 patch yet? I've had it for two days and have had a slew of problems, almost all concerning crashes caused while trying to scan plugins while opening the app, but a couple BSOD incidents while using the software.

It's frustrating because it keeps rejecting plugs that I had no problem with up through version 3.04, and at least one of them is very improtant to me and it has been disabled by GS 3.1 and I don't know how to get it back since there is no list of rejected plugs to rescan.

Worse yet, I tried opening GS 3.1 in ReWire inside of Tracktion 2 this morning and just had a nightmare unfold. GS crashed every time and every time it would crash it would disable a different plugin (all of which had worked before) claiming plug XYZ crashed the system :roll: .

Just venting but also looking for anyone else experiences with the new update.

Also, partly in light of what is going on with ReWire, I'm trying out FX-Max Giga VST adapter plug in place of ReWire, which I've never liked much because I think it is inefficent and requires large buffer settings on my machine, but I'm having a hard time understanding it. I can't get it to function anything like ReWire, though, and so far it just sits there in Tracktion 2's VST bus and monitors GS3's output, with no other control of GS3 through Tracktion available.

I read the instructions, but I could only see how to set it up to feed the soundcard MIDI input first into GS3, then have the output of GS3 fed into Tracktion 2's VST bus. The problem with this is that no MIDI from the sequencer is going into GS3 through GVA, just sound from GS3 is going into Tracktion's VST bus (not into its track recording input) and all the MIDI from the soundcard input/external controller is just getting used by GS3 with no MIDI interaction at all with Tracktion 2.

In ReWire, GS3's MIDI input is fed by Tracktion 2's MIDI output :

(controller--->soundcard--->Tracktion MIDI in--->track recording bus--->VST bus--->ReWire--->GS3 MIDI in port--->GS3 output--->back into Tracktion VST bus--->Tracktion output bus).

This way I can record MIDI and sequence GS3 with Tracktion 2. Can you set up GVA to do it like this (so the soundcard MIDI input goes into Tracktion 2 first, then through GVA into GS3, instead of going into GS3 first)?

Anyway, that was a long winded rant, but I was up all night transferring files into a new hard drive and then I get up after a few hours of sleep to all of this so I'm a little dazed and agitated at this point.
:x

Thanks for any help or suggestions,
Dave

Solved: I forgot until late last night that I had changed a memory use configuration setting in GS right after installing the new version (a big no no). I should have waited to change any settings but I didn't think about it. It seems to have made the program very unstable. I reinstalled and went back to the previous config and it works fine now.
