Post

unknown, omar, hype, ed rush, keoki, ritm,- hell yeah. best event of the summer (except probably the hulla i'm missing because none of my friends bought tickets on time)

Post

lucky canadians!

Post

happy canada day

Post

less than a week - can't wait - too bad i got kicked out of the omar santana gig on saturday and missed his set. i'll catch him this saturday at wemf i guess if rabbit on the moon or keoki aren't tearing things up at that time

Post

I'm playing...

Caught the last half of Omar Santana on Saturday night in Montreal too. Threw down a good set from what I heard, but his eyesight seems to have gotten so bad that he can barely see anything anymore. Sad :(

Post

only a few more days to go. i'm goin nuts with excitement.

Post

kicked ass as usual. - mampi swift, omar santana and unknown pounded out some amazing sets. but what the hell is up with dj hype and keoki not showing up - super unprofessional. that super sucks. especially for keoki. happens every year at wemf though. djs just don't show up. what the hell is that? i wonder if it's a Destiny/organization problem witht the promoter thing or if djs really are just super unreliable. at least omar and unknown showed up though and those were the real draws for me (however, i was really looking forward to keoki's and hype's sets though) oh well. another time i guess.

Destiny's promotion is usually somewhat dodgy. A few years ago they had Lenny Dee, Fade and Hixxy on the lineup, and none of them showed. As far as WEMFs go, this years seemed to be fairly well organized, i thought. The sound was way better than in 2k3.

Were you in the hardcore room much Friday night? Wonder if I met you...

i was only really in the hardcore room all friday and i kinda moved between all of the rooms on saturday. i forgot to mention, robbie long rocked pretty damn hard as well.

i can't beleive that all three (fade hixxy and lenny dee) didn't show for that party - i would have been pissed. yeah, i notice that destiny really doesn't put as much effort into the hardcore rooms after all that stuff with hulla that went down a few years back and they, for some strange reason, put wemf on the same day as the final hulla that had been planned for over a year and a half. oh well. which dj were you because all of the hardcore djs on friday were incredible (especially scoots and the guy that was on after unknown). i was really impressed. that party was really the perfect blend of anthems, new stuff and hard stuff. i loved it. too bad there weren't more people there because that floor would have been goin nuts.

never been to a goodfellaz party but the goodfellaz locals were insane. are you gonna be playing that next goodfellaz with brisk because i can't wait for that one. Brisk kicks major ass.

Post

Hey man - I'm friends with the goodfellaz crew and will be at their next party, but I won't be playing. Will definitely be playing future parties of theirs though.

I was on at midnight Friday after END and just before Robbie Long... website's down at the moment, but i've got a mix up at www.hardscience.net/Tyrant-The_New_Shit.mp3 . Don't really play the happier stuff, and instead go in for the darker more twisted stuff... I just moved to Toronto from Montreal, and I know Tdot crowds generally love their cheese, but I was happy to see so many people were diggin my set.

Post

yeah, that was a damn good set on friday. lookin forward to hearin some more at future parties. like i said, all of friday was awesome in the hardcore room. musicwise, that was one of the best nights of hardcore i've heard in ages. too bad there wasn't a hulla-size crowd there to enjoy it. still, if i remember correctly, everyone in the room was totally into your set and you played some insane tracks.

as for toronto, yeah, we really were a happycore city for a while but the harder stuff is really starting to take over our hardcore scene nowadays. most of our hhc parties (i.e. hulla and goodfellaz) were supposedly highly populated by out-of-towners. the hard-style stuff is definitely what the local hardcore scene is moving towards nowadays.

i assume you produce (or else you wouldn't be checkin out kvr). what label do you release your vinyl on or do you have your own label? I'm hopin to release to eventually release a few tracks on vinyl by the end of the year and I was gonna go press it with acme. do you have any experience with them while living in toronto?

anyways, keep up the awesome sets.

Post

i would've enjoyed this weekend. too bad i'm out west now. last show of this sort i went to in toronto was the el mocambo new year's eve this past january.

i'm listening to the tyrant set now. what was it recorded on?
so let me get this straight; 3 stages right? one was house/progressive, is one hiphop/breaks and the last one is DNB/Jungle?

too bad there were some no-shows. maybe they melted under the heat of the ontario sun?
how was the weather on the weekend?

Post

deggy - wicked, thanks bro :) glad you enjoyed the set! Yeah with frolic and hulla now done, i'm hoping that the old cheese will soon be a thing of the past. It's not 1998 anymore, so now its up to djs to stop playing that vinylgroover cack and *maybe* even, dare i say, stop playing eyeopener and shooting star.

I do produce, but haven't put out any tracks as of yet. I'm in no rush, and when I do start putting stuff out, i'd rather it be good than just ok. I dunno, i'm pretty picky about the stuff i'll play out, so at the very least i should be that picky about the stuff i'm writing too. Anyways, stuff's on the way ;)

I don't know anything about acme pressing. Nothing at all. If you want, I can ask around though and see what my friends have to say about them...

Mr. Tunes: It was recorded on two Technics 1200's and two CDJ's with my shitty ass Numark DXM-06 mixer... Probably 60% was off cd(unreleased, or rather unreleased when I mixed it back in April) and the rest was off vinyl.

WEMF had a 4/4 stage for techno/trance/prog, a hardcore room, and a jungle/breaks room this year. I was only there for the Friday night cuz I really couldn't handle ANOTHER disgusting 3-day bender (which I had the weekend before in Montreal too :P) but the weather was really nice throughout the whole weekend. Its been between 30-35 everyday for the past while :D

3 rooms and additional outdoor stages.

1st room - Trance/house/progressive

2nd Room - DnB, Jungle, some Breaks

3rd room - hardcore (friday - mostly happycore and sat - gabba, hard trance, psy-trance and hard house)

+ new talent tent.

check the site www.wemf.com

it was fun. but i'm really contemplating going to blueshift 2 in wisconsin (15 hour bus ride but it might be worth it i guess)
