of course, i want to test them myself, but want to hear the opninions of people who are using one of the mics or even better both. i´m giong to make vocal recordings mainly and would characterize my voice roughly as a "mid-range" voice ( if that tells you anything), with not too much bass. thanks gor your help guys!

Hi abi,
I have not used these mics, but if you can afford a bit more you really should check out the AT-4033. I think they are classics. My mic locker has included U87s (with tube mod), C-12, Sony C-48, and lots of other fantastic mics...and I'll be damned if the AT-4033 beat them out an awful lot. They are also killer on acoustic guitar and hi-hat.

Disclaimer: I'm still in the market, haven't used either. But.
I'm going for the Studio Projects B3 once I recover from the computer disaster and have money again. Haven't read a review yet that didn't include a description of the reviewer's amazement that SP made high-quality mics cheaply. I was set on a Rodentia =^_^= but whyterabbyt and several others changed my mind.

I have actually owned both these mikes, and still own the Rodes (so you can read everything in to that)- I think the Rodes is very flattering on vocals and also nice on accoustic guitar.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Hi SLiC,
Would you consider the NT1A to be a good "universal" mic--for someone who doesn't have a variety of mics to pick from already, and who's budget is limited? The idea of a pair of NT1A mics sounds nice to me. They have extremely low noise, and if the high end is a bit bright (as some people say) couldn't that be compensated for with some EQ?
take care,
McLilith
