Hi guys,
I'm the one who coded the Wahwactor, the voice driven wah-wah VST plug-in and I'm just asking what you think about it.
thanks for your comments, thomas.

Hi thomtom,

I tried the plugin yesterday, and I have to say; it is a nice idea, and it sounds cool!

However, it is a beta, so I'll give some feeback.
Take this as a test report:
- the plugin crashes in Logic RPC Pro upon loading
- the plugin crashes in (Xlutop's) Chainer upon closing
- I couldn't hear the difference between the two buttons on the lower left (forgot their names, but is was about vocal and manual)

I really like it that you took some previous comments and removed the chorus, flanger and stuff, and now just focus on the wha; cool!
The new GUI is also much better.
Oh, the artifacts in version 0.1 are now completely gone.
They only way I could get artifacts, is while moving the 'bandwith' slider; but I guess that is OK. It would be awesome though, if that also was artifact free.

I hope you like the thorough testing I did.

I think the improvements from 0.1 to 0.2 are very promising.
I look forward to testing the next version!

Are there no other guitar players that tested this?
Come on six-stringers, give it a shot!

Too must "work" for the moment, but it is on my list; I´ll put it in the "urgent" section. I love the concept !

I 've tested the previous version , not the current one. Nice plugin. Worked as expected. It's just that I am used to my crybaby and I have to develop a new technique with this kind of stuff. Congrats for your work thomtom!
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain

I didn't find it worked as expected at all. The "wah-ing" wasn't very responsive and the frequency range wasn't very wide. I had a very difficult time getting it to sound like I was using a wah.

Beats me. I tried all kinds of things and I couldn't get it to work well. I posted a thread back when I tried it.

I don't have any of these softwares. I'll download Logic to test it. By the way, does anyone have a previous idea of the reason of such a problem?

Well, it's quite simple. If you select the "Manual bypass" mode, you can use the "FX Mix" slider and then cut the effect by putting "FX Mix" to zero.
Then if you select the "Vocal bypass" mode, you can put the effect on/off by saying quite loudly "shsh" like in the "shark" word. You can also use the "FX mix" slider as before.
Actually this vocal switch was added because in a foot pedal you always can switch the effect on/off whenever you want with your foot. In our system, the foot is replaced by the voice so it seemed to us logical to have this control possibility. Nevertheless, since not everyone liked it, I put it optional on this new version.
Am I clear on that point cause it's pretty simple but not that easy to explain clearly?

If you talk about the strange sounds you get when the "Bandwidth" slider is close to 0Hz, I kept them because I found them cool :-)

Yeah, thanks a lot.

Better download Xlutop's Chainer; that one is free and available for Windows.
Logic has no demo that I am aware of and is certainly MAC only. I am on PC, like most of us (?).

You sure are!

Nope, I was talking about artifacts *while* changing the slider (with the mouse)

thomas.
You are welcome!

Hrmn....AKIK Chainer isn't freeware. VSTHost is
however and WahWactor crashes it on closing as well.
Haven't yet had a chance to really workout with it
and guitar yet...but it's the weekend,(at last!).

Cheers....CL

The demo version of Chainer is freeware and never expires.

Ok, that's a LOT like free!! :o I stand corrected. :D

Yeah, seems to be the same bug that crashes
VSTHost.

But does anyone have an idea of what could be this bug?
For info, my Windows VST plug-in works with Cubase SX and Plogue Bidule but crashes AKIK Chainer.
