Feels good having DSL doesn't it? I got mine about 3 months ago, I enjoy the fast loading all so much. I take it you have SBC Yahoo?

I still can't get used to the "save" button being pressed and actually watching the progress meter move so quickly.

The feeling you get when you jump from dial-up to DSL is a good one. I remember nine months ago I had my first taste, and I don't think I could ever even try to go back. Just too slow.

ross g...Thanks to you getting into the fast lane, I now know the band behind the song I had running through my brain in the shower yesterday (10cc).

With the high speed its like "All gates...are open nooww" (I hope that is an actual Can reference).

Its been close to 5 years since dialup for me, and I'm glad I dont even remember what its like.

In a blink of an eye I'm someplace else doing something different....

there was an interesting article about the making of "i'm not in love" in i think Future Music (too expensive in the states, i had to read as much as i could in Guitar Center)... 10cc built their own studio, some members weren't too thrilled with the song itself, but the studio secretary liked it and encouraged them to finish it... so anyway to get those lush vox they made chromatic note loops and "played" the various chords by simply bringing up faders on their custom mixing board...people argue about analog warmth? here's your example i'd say....(best i can relate of the story..it's what i picked up standing/reading while every salesperson asked "you need some help with anything?"

pfft yer pissant DSL is dialup compared to my 5 megabit roadrunner...

Post

but congrats all the same. I wish that roadrunner would bump the upload above 384k. I would reather have 1.4 megabit up and down, but nope, you have to pay 149 per month for that, and you dont even get a static IP...

at my old job we had T1, nah nah nah  ...but stupid work got in the way of browsing and such...plus they had some stupid apple message something or other that blocked over 5meg loads, so i had to setup a ftp site just to transfer audio spots to/from clients... this was about 5 years ago and the whole net thing was just cranking up in big advertising (hmm.. how can we shove ads into this stuff?)
sooo...for my education, what is roadrunner? btw, i'm only paying $16 a month, so i'm happy...

Roadrunner is the time warner cable modem, it is 5 megabit(I.E. nearly 3 times faster than T1) down 384k up(Ive benched them on dsl reports and it is accurate, there must have some sorta badnwidth "cop" on the line. However I pay 45 bucks per month plus tax for my download speed(with cable the bill comes out to 90 bucks a month :x )

Most dsl is around 1.5 megabit to 2 megabit tops download(equivalent to T1, but depends on how close you are to the phone switch) its 19.99 for DSL here, and I have seriously considered switching as I dont really like time warner, but there is no alternative that allows me to download 80 mb files in 2-3 minutes(which I happen to do quite a bit, and no they arent porn movies...) :hihi:

I have had DSL for about 2 months, and I still cannot figure out why I did not do it months ago. And a wireless connection all over the house is amazing.

iTunes has some decent radio stations, and now I can actually download Podcasts.
