My biggest musical influences are Mu-ziq (Mike Paradenas of Planet-Mu), Amon-Tobin, and Aphex-Twin. I'm desperate for more modern intelligent dance music like this stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion guys but I've already looked into Venetian Snares and it doesn't really suit me. The music definitely has a lot of energy but when the drums aren't sounding predictable and "rave", they've got that hectic electro staccato thing going on which I'm not always into. I'm looking for stuff with more of a deliberate orcestration between somewhat complex melodies and groove centric but not necessarily fully predictable drums. Again, thanks for your insight.

Ochre, baby. http://www.ochremusic.com. Sadly, some of my favorite tracks of his are no longer available for download from his website. Try his Mithrax remix.

It's been a while since I listened to that genre but I wouldn't expect many artist in the same league as Mu-ziq, Amon Tobin and Aphex Twin.... 3 of the absolute most original and skilled electronic musicians IMO.RawTheory wrote:My biggest musical influences are Mu-ziq (Mike Paradenas of Planet-Mu), Amon-Tobin, and Aphex-Twin. I never really listeded much to Autechre myself, but if you haven't already checked them out I guess you should.
Also, you might want to hit me for mentioning FSOL in context with AphexTwin, but I do remember liking a few of FSOL's bold "melodies".
Another suggestion could be Chris Clark.
Best regards,
Rune

I love to dance on IDM. Four to the floor tends to bore me.havran wrote:do you characters ever dance at all or do you just work out calculus exercises?!!!![]()
I need to be Ueberdrunk to be able to dance to disco - and then I still can't do it with a straight face, I have to act like a disco queen to have any fun at it.
