Hello all,

Just thought I'd point people to a new plugin I wrote, my first!! It may well be nearly or completely useless but I thought I'd put it out there to see if anyone finds a use for it. I know there are at least a few plugins out there with a subset of its functionality, e.g. http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/mstools/ , http://innig.net/software/au/sim/ , etc but mine is much more generalized in a hopefully useful way. What it does is basically allow you to re-map your two channels of a stereo audio stream to any weighted combination of the input channels, with a bunch of intuitive ways of setting that up. Obvious applications are converting to/from left/right and middle/side representations, swapping and/or inverting channels, boosting or reducing left, right, middle or side levels, and stereo panning but perhaps the added flexibility will open up some further possibilities. It also gives you a neat graphical representation not only of your current transformation but also of the power and correlation level between the two channels (before and after transforming)

Here it is, as an AudioUnit: http://www.myjavaserver.com/~rkundalini/CT-1.dmg

The basic idea is that you treat incoming stereo pair samples as 2D cartesian vectors, then perform linear transformations on them to make the output. The transformations are chosen from 4 intuitively geometric parameterized transformation types: rotations, reflections, boosts and pans. It's all explained a bit more in the accompanying pdf file.

Great idea ! AU - poor me...
