I actually think this post fits in this forum more than others...
Title: Complete Cycle
Artist: Topaz
This is a small CD put out by our very own Topaz which I had the good fortune to purchase some time ago.
It has 3 tracks on it and I just wanted to comment on how great they are.
I'm not really great at using "the lingo" for describing why I like music so I'm probably about to sound very amateurish....
The three songs seem to be dance numbers. However, they manage to maintain a part rock, part funk feel to them which I personally find very refreshing and makes it hard for me to slap a "dance" label on them with any real authority.
There's ample variety in each of the songs so you never feel like you're listening to the same 8 bars over and over again.
There's plenty of distorted guitars chords, real-sounding percussion and drumming playing alongside some squealchy synth lines and some really nifty synth lead parts.
I found all 3 songs to stand up to scrutiny individually. I never felt like any of them were "filler" for the CD at all.
Great stuff - great stuff - great stuff.
I just thought it was worthwhile to edify Topaz here because - well - it's a nice thing to do. And if we can't all be out there on the front page of every newspaper we could at least experience the spotlight a little within our own community here at K-v-R.
Congrats - Topaz.
Killer tunes!
Caleb

BTW - I have an MP3 on my hard drive called 'Topaz vs Sonic Surfers - Idea 1'. Just wondering if this is gonna see the light of day at all, it's got a cracking bassline..
