great video (well, audio i guess). I disagree with a few things, but still very interesting.

wow...great stuff:)
I'd love to see a history of the skull snaps break..although it would definately be a shorter video.

holy shit... visually that is absolutely the most boring quicktime i've ever seen. they didnt have to make that a video.
why not show video clips of the Winstons for example?
why didnt they show pictures of the artists who used the beat etc? giant raves? inner-city breakdancers? when they feature squarepusher they show a moniter on the floor.
nowadays with iMovie and such you can do way more than what is on that video. sorry to rip on it, maybe i'm not getting the artsy aspect of it.
the dialogue sounds great though but the video made me restless cause nothing happened.

he said that DnB/jungle was completely started from the amen, hinting that it wouldnt exist of it were for the amen break. Granted it would be very different, it would still exist.soulkraka wrote:what, specifically, do you disagree with?

i watched the first 30 seconds and realized that nothing would happen so i minimized it. Calm down.Mr. Tunes wrote:holy shit... visually that is absolutely the most boring quicktime i've ever seen. they didnt have to make that a video.

I agree.
A friend of mine has stacks of records from the early 90's that are right at that transition phase between breakbeat techno and jungle. They dont ALL use the amen break, just 80% of them. But thats just what Ive heard. Ive never been much of a fan.

I liked it...a zen like approach. If you made it to the end you'd see that he some serious points to make. If he had candy ravers jumping around with glowsticks in the video it would be hard to take it seriously.Mr. Tunes wrote:holy shit... visually that is absolutely the most boring quicktime i've ever seen.

haha. i know but it could've offered so much more as a historical overview of something so important.Chase wrote: i watched the first 30 seconds and realized that nothing would happen so i minimized it. Calm down.

i love how he started it. "i'd like to talk about drums" that's a prime sample if i've ever found one.soulkraka wrote: I liked it...a zen like approach. maybe i'm too brain washed by the Ken Burns jazz experience. but even that sort of documentary style features techniques similar to what this guy has done.

I thought that "noisia" or whatever theyre called were supposed to be like the hottest thing ever to hit the DnB scene? No?jdg wrote:i miss old school jungle.. it was so much more interesting then the dnb of today.

Zero-G
how many times have I told people, there are tons of sample cd's with stolen samples, if not actuall samples, copied.
