Anyone else excited by Cubase SX 3.1?

Anyone else noticed it's coming out?

Finally, proper multiprocessor support...but how far will it go? Will it cater for all 8 threads on your new Dual-Proc, Dual-Core, hyperthreading system (which Intel have already announced)?

I really reall hope they've done it in a properly load-balanced way, rather than giving most of the work to one processor and the graphics to another, or some such less-than-optimal solution

NOT starting a Steinberg-slamming-fest, I'm genuinely pleased they've moved in this direction. This will mean we can properly move forward with the new technology. And in a free upgrade as well.

i didn't think intel were making dual dual core setups - when was this released?

Kind regards

Yes, when I said dual I meant Xeon. Article here pointing towards 4 hyperthreaded cores in a dual-proc system - http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24710

From what I've read Cubase 3.1 will support Dual Dual-Core processors, which translates to 4 physical cores or Quad Core System. So if one plans to use dual Opteron 270 or so, they will have 4 cores to work with. Dual Xeon will have 2 physical and 2 virtual cores. I'm not sure if it will help or not but it will translate to 4 cores.
The new features will not be ground-braking, most likelly but a welcome features for sure. I'm looking forward to 3.1. I'll be building new system this month and a SX 3.1 will be a welcome update for the whole system - that's for sure

Just loaded 3.02 today. So far so good but the time warping still seems a bit of a palava(or have I missed something?) so I'll still be rewired to Ableton. Some things are more a relief than a blessing but its the app I've grown up with.

I've never found it CPU-hungry, but then I don't have another host to compare it with. I'm just hoping the dual-proc support will make it feel lighter on that kind of CPU.
