I started working on a a new plug (I don't forget tatapoum 3.0...)

don't bash gui, as it's just a preview.
every features are not there, and some gui elements will change

It's a vst that outputs midi.

it's aim is to provide a huge chords library, and let user place chords on a sequencer.

chords are based on those you find on chordfind.com

for each step you can set :
- root note
- chord name
- variation of this chord
- transpose
- strum type (there will be several strum available, each of them tweakable. 4 or 6, or something like that)
- velocity
- strum direction
- strum rate
- note length
- probably some cc params and their values, so that you can control a specific parameter of the synth or sampler you use.

so my questions are :

- does this seems interesting or not
- have you any suggestion for features
- how many different strums would be enough for you?
(for each strum preset you could set rate, and alter distance between strokes and maybe each stroke velocity to humanise them)

Being a guitarist myself I am not interrested in such a plugin but I find the idea very clever and I think that many keyboard players will find it very useful.
Regarding suggestions I think that a possibility to strum only the lower or only the higher strings and alternate between these two would be welcome.
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain

in fact you can do it by altering the chord itself, but i guess it would be annoying, cause you won't remember what you erased.
so it's a good idea.
thanx

Sounds like a great idea.

Yeah, very interesting. I hate programming guitar chords and am a total fucktard when it comes to using an actual guitar.

I don't know enough about how to play a guitar to really come up with features. Would it be useful to add some automated sustain on/off function? I only have one guitar sample library and I know I'm always having to play around with the sustain in order to get realistc guitar sounds.

42. That's another way of saying, yes. As many as you can. :D

WoW! This is a fantastic idea~! Will give us a qucik alternative to rhythm and chords.

peace!

This sounds great. I've wondered why more stuff like this hasn't surfaced.

Excellent idea, please go on! I can play all three chords on a guitar, so this would definitely open up new roads for a tosser like me :)

Very interesting :D

thank you all for the positive replies !
I hope i'll manage to make it properly...

and tatapoum has to be achieved too... (it's close but you know, there are always new bugs you didn't expected and that force you to rethink some things, sometimes from begining.)

hmm.
i think you don't get it.
revitar and slayer are synths and can't let you program chords (or at least not really seriously).
virtual guitarist doesn't let you output midi.
real guitar doesn't let you sequence chords the way i plan to make it.

my plug won't output sound, but only let you control your plugs easily and - i hope - efficiently.

This seems like it may be a practical tool to show how music theory applies to guitar...for those who have stared at a piano roll for too long. I think it's a great idea...expecially if I've written a piece on my guitar and I want to translate it fast to midi without dealing with a piano roll...which I guess might be the purpose of this.
Is this gonna be freeware or at least cheap...now you'd have my attention!
