i need a very good sounding steep high pass filter/eq, greater than 24db/oct. its wanted for cutting under bass drums.
havent tried many but waves ren is the best i've found so far, but something steeper would be even better.
any....?
thanks.

Have you tried just using the one you like best, and putting two or more in a row? Two 24db/oct in serial wil give you 48db/oct.
Saves you searching and trying out a bunch of new filters.

I do the 2 eqs in series trick sometimes too shamann...
If you want a real steep one - how's 96dB/octave sound (or anything else you want) - FreEQ Boy does that. It's very transparant - also no artifacts.

I would recommend Camelphat 3 for this function.
I am not sure what the slope of the filter is, but in practical terms, it does a great job of removing those low frequencies that clutter up the bottom end.
It also has some other neat tools for beefing up your drums, too

try elemental audio Eqium. You can make them as steep as you want by adding in as many hi-pass filters as your pc can handle on top of each other

I use fft filters for this kind of precision, but due to the heavy cpu load those plugs give a really delayed output...that's why I sample my bd and do the fft job into adobe audition. Then i load the filtered bd into my sampler.
Obviously if you have pdc (and a good daw) or freeze functions in your host there's no need to use an external sampler for things like this...
