Hi all,

I was just wondering if this exists.
For example, if I wanna send my entire project of maybe 28 stereo channels to someone who´s damn good at mixing it, then I have to just send one file containing all the tracks inside of it.
In that case they would all be in raw audio format of course, but it would also be useful if mp3 encoding could be chosen, so that for example an artist could make a remix competition where people can dl a file with all the tracks in 128 kbit encoding, and send the remix back to the artist.
The winners would then be sent a file with raw audio tracks to replace the mp3´s easily, to get the optimal result.
Doing it this way would attract more people to participate in the contest, because of the very reduced data amount to download.

Well, does a format like that exist?

Hmmm, not sure if it's quite what you are looking for but an OMF file does something like that.

An OMF file saves all the audio as well as a project file so that when you import it into your sequncer it will place all the audio in the correct place on the timeline.

Not sure about the mp3 thing though...

So which hosts/audio applications/hardware can deal with this fileformat?

From the top of my head:
Sonar from version 2.2 onward
Logic
Cubase from SX/SL 2
Protools
Avid
Final Cut Pro
DP

Perhaps others, like Samplitude/Sequoia. Not sure about those but it seems likely (especially sequoia).
