I have a 2496 Audiophile soundcard and am interested in recording my DJ sets onto my hard drive. I assume that I plug the mixer into the soundcard, etc... What application is good to record into? Is there any freeware application that I could record my mix into? Is an application like wavelab or audition, the correct thing to use? I would like to record my DJ sets and ultimately convert them to MP3. Thanks for any advice.

If you are really good at keeping the levels steady plugging the mixer into the 2496 is fine.
Wavelab and Audition are more than capable of just doing straight recording and converting. If you want to try something that is free give Audacity a try. I can't recall think link right now, do a search. If you ise audacity you may need something to convert the file to MP3.
I assume you are on a Windows platform.

try messer. there is a quite some other apps that record directly to mp3. most of them are free. i'd prefer one that allows to use lame with an "--alt-preset-.." option.
You're my son, dude!
