Music training software

Hello people.
I've started looking for software which helps with music theory/practice training. I've found a couple of packages out there which offer some electronic training courses with built-in exercises and such. I am sure there are more out there so I am wondering if you use any yourself. I'd be mostly interested in software which assists you in your own personal training instead of providing its own fixed methodology. Like e.g. a program which identifies and names/analyses the chords you hit on the keyboard? Play a scale and tell you what that scale is? Anything you can use alongside your own practice routine. Any tools from scales, chords to rhythm. Preferably freeware or on the cheap side.
Thanks!
