VSTi that does Real Time loop tuning?

My boy used to do this with his old Akais. Hed reord his knob movements in sequencer when set on the loop tuning setting. It made crazy stuttering loop. Any VSTis do this? I have Halion, but cant see how to make it do this by assigning a midi controller #...
