I used HS2002 before I went to Sonar 2 (and now 4P). I've not had troubles with any of the Cakewalk software.Atonal wrote:sorry to bump this one, I need to make a decision by tonight.
If you're going to have trouble, most likely it will be with the VSTI adapter. Some have had no end of trouble with it, but I've been pretty fortunate - one run and an occastional "scan for new" seems to be sufficient for me, and once or twice after drastic changes, I had to run a full reset scan...
In addition to Cakewalk's, I also have DirectIXer, since I got it for Sonar 2 (if you use Jamstix, they recommend DirectIXer, also Groove Agent and other VSTI that output MIDI can benefit from DirectIXer's internal MIDI port). If I have a VSTI that won't work right under one or the other, I've decided to just stop using that VSTI, or not buy it, or sell it, since I've been paring down my library anyway, culling out old/infrequently used/redundant synths. The developers regard (or should regard) Cakewalk as a major player, as they do Cubase and Logic... although heaven knows Logic's VSTI implementation has been flaky at times, too.
