Cakewalk has the best looking customizable host console. That is if you have a sense of color and design.

My preference woulb be the Nuendo one...

This Cakewalk GUI looks crap to me, knobs and buttons are horrible ; looks cheap.

The one in DP is superb I also like the Logic and Samplitude ones.

I.
Black text on a white canvas, do racist people close their eyes when they read a book?

Okay, have it your way. Who's got the biggest I?

P.S.: Kudos to non_ for stating it as a matter of personal preference rather than "this is the best one."

Both of those are good. I prefer Cubase/Nuendo but Live is good also. The only bad one I've used is Orion but I suppose its O.K. for its target audience.

Slightly different but the Creamware mixers are awesome.

Cheers. IMHO, there's no point stating "x is the best..." ; that's just a matter of taste.

Yep, I also like what I've seen in Live.
Is there a mixer in Tracktion??
Ndct.

you gotta be kidding me, that cakewalk UI looks so like poo to these eyes

i must concur with the 'non' fellow who said Nuendo. SX is a close second (of course i'll probably choose 'what i use', and i'm a proud SX'er)

IMO of course, as long as it's usuable, the UI 'look' is a very subjective, personal preference

still, imo you can't beat the steiney hosts

edits because my spelling sucks today

I prefere the ProTools mixer. It's simple and very clear. Console views tend to be too much cluttered in other hosts. EDIT: Also Logic Audio has a nice mixer.

OK, thanks. That's interesting... Perhaps I should finally try this NFR version I never installed.
