in case anybody is interested....
melodyne uno doesn't have audio to midi... however, melodyne cre8 does. Those guys are good over there. I couldn't believe how fast i got a response from them.

Glad you got an answer. I use cre8, but didn't want to offer a guesswork reply because I don't know the facts on uno. :-) Melodyne is some amazing stuff, gotta say.

i think i might end up buying cre8 when i have the money. i sing like a son of a bitch most of the time, but i suck big time at playing stuff. hoping to sing and turn it into midi. hopefully it'll work.

With a bit of work and practice I've been able to get realistic klezmer-style clarinet licks from cre8. For me at least, it doesn't work every time. (I'm not much of a singer.) But when it does come together... wow. =o.O= Just right.

that is the sole reason i wanted melodyne. i sing violin/clarinet/zurna solos and crap (yes i am a dork) but how the f..k can i do that when i'm this technically retarded? i think from your words i'm safe to say that i am definitely a near-future buyer of melodyne. thank you for helping more than you can imagine.

*bow* It's rare that I can be of any real service to someone (as opposed to making silly jokes). Hope you will find it as useful and amazing as I've done!

Meffy, tuz: have you compared Melodyne stuff (uno, cre8) to Rephrase?
Re[hrase seems very interesting, and good value for money, but gets little mention here.

Wish Celemony would put up some Audio to Midi comparison files on their website, or at least have the demo do a few seconds of MIDI export. Seem like little focus is placed on the MIDI export of this program. Was thinking of getting Liquid, but checked out the demo of Melodyne. Amazed at the things I can do with my collection of sample CDs converted to MIDI and worked in FLS. Maybe someone who has Melodyne can post an Audio to Midi example on the forum.
