BR - Synced audio recording not working correctly as VSTfx

This problem occurs in renoise when using XT as a VST effect.

- Create some audio in a track in renoise with samples / VST

- Load XT VST as an effect on that track in renoise. Add a sequencer: sync to host, no count in, no click.

- Set time line in XT sequencer to zero. Press record in XT sequencer.

- Press play in renoise and XT starts recording

- Press stop in renoise when passage of music completes.

The problem here is that the recording does not come out as synced. The sync recording does however work for midi when using XT as a VSTi in renoise i.e. it is synced in perfect time.

With the audio recording there is a silence at the beggining which seems to correspond to the amount of time between pressing record in XT and play in renoise. Also this silence will be covered sometimes by a second take audio recording in XT but will be the end of the music passage.

Update:

I have found that pressing the panic button in renoise is required to make this work properly.
i.e. press this before making the XT recording.

I still believe however that this may be an XT bug as testing fx-freeze (which itself does sync recording) wrapped in XT VST works as expected (no extra recordings at the begining and is synced properly).

Still present 26 aug beta.

Another observation on this one:

If I send a CC from renoise to XT to start the record function in the sequencer (mapped), the sequencer will record and play. This is regardless of pressing panic in renoise.

If I do it by pressing panic in renoise, press record in XT it works by just arming sequencer for recording and waiting for the host to trigger the play / transport controls.

I guess with a fix of this the sent CC should not start the transport moving but just arm the sequencer for recording as with the second method mentioned here?

(still talking about sync to external mode)

This method is still required for oct 7th beta.

Hi jorgen, thanks for the update regarding this issue but the whole problem isn`t quite fixed yet (21/10/05 beta).

Even with the new recording mode there is a silence added at the beginning of the audio recording, unless the panic button is pressed in renoise before. Otherwise adjustments have to be made to the clip after to get it synced still.

confirmed, fixed and uploaded
