Coriolis Lab has released Karplus Riddle, a Max for Live audio effect designed to sculpt rhythmic and evolving plucked or comb-like textures from any sound source.
Built around a minimalist step-sequencer, Karplus Riddle modulates micro-delay times per step, allowing for dynamic textural shifts, tempo variations, and gliding transitions. Applied to drums, it recalls the metallic, glitchy sonorities of early IDM (Autechre, µ-Ziq, Aphex Twin); with ambient material, it opens up into rich, atonal progressions.
