Soundiron has released Steel Tones, a multi-sampled metallic tuned percussion instrument library for Kontakt.
Steel Tones was recorded with an 8-tongue D-major pentatonic Hapi Drum. Each note has a strong fundamental tone with complex overtones and harmonics and a long, mellow sustain. The library features ambient and re-synthesized content and a user interface that allows a range of custom tuned percussion instrument sound design options.
It was recorded in dry and wet stereo positions with Neumann studio mics. Each note has 7 round robins in up to 9 velocity layers per note, using soft rubber and hard metal mallets. The dual-layer interface allows the user to chromatically solo, combine and layer articulations, tongues and mic positions to create custom tonal blends. Each layer includes a range of adjustable parameters. There are also sound-designed ambiences, textures, soundscapes, organic synth pads and custom presets to provide for accompaniment and underscoring.
The ARP system provides arpeggiation and step-sequencing options. The FX Rack provides multi-effects and convolution reverb with 70 spaces to choose from: cathedrals, churches, halls, bunkers, garages, tunnels, chambers, rooms and FX impulses.
This 2.9 GB library includes 1161 samples in standard 24/48 stereo wav format and a user interface for the full retail version of Kontakt 5.5 and later (Kontakt Player not supported, OS X 10.8 or later / Windows 7 or later required):
