Ambitron is an incredible tool for soundscape generation and sound design in general.
Not only are you able to take even the smallest samples and make amazing tones, textures, and sonic worlds with it, you have complete control over randomization parameters, as well as full tonal control. This program is AMAZING at creating soft, smooth, and flowing sounds (just try it out using a sample of water!) as well as other realms, such as grainy, dark, dirty / distorted, etc.
The effects are top-notch and really give you a large amount of control while retaining an easy to use interface that doesn't overwhelm you with data, rather is very streamlined. The delay & reverb options are superb - a LOT of options for delay taps and you can have various timing for each left and right delay channel (same with reverb, many options that seem to be omitted on separate reverbs). As a reverb lover, I would use this reverb as standalone, it's that smooth!
You can choose from a large modulation matrix for randomization and modulation, with all the best parameters available.
The sheer amount of control you have over the sampler functions would be enough to keep anyone busy for months, but M-RGT took it to the next level with --
-Complete Patch randomization
-The ability to morph between patches - this works via Winamp-style queue. just select which patch you want, and how long you want the morph to last.
-Custom morph times, so you can literally have it cycling through 20 patches over the course of 30 minutes if you prefer.
All sound design and normal synth uses aside, this program is great for creating new and unique material.
If you setup a patch with some of the randomization options turned on and let it run while recording the output, you will have an astounding amount of material to work with.
I've used this to create everything from leads, effects, glitchy / weird sounds and textures, drum hits (slice parts of the output to a separate sample).
This is one of THE BEST ambient soundscape generators I've worked with. the signal flow makes sense when you stop to think of how modulation works, and is navigated by a tabbed section. Each sample has it's own grouping for more control.
If you're looking for a sample transformer, interested in new sounds, or even trying to make as many new sounds from one boring sample, this program will change your view on static sounds and uninspired / default samples... just toss it into Ambitron and you will witness it's transformation!
No issues with stability, etc. Running the 32 bit plugin on Windows 7, 64-bit through Abelton Live, FL studio, and Sonar X1. VERY stable - for fun, I tried to see how many full running instaces I could run. I got bored after I reached 65 instances running with no slowdown. I HIGHLY recommend this plugin, as it is a steal at this price. If this were put out by a large company, I would not be surprised to see the price at $75+ USD.
