It is a one-of-a-kind hybrid compressor that bridges the gap between two legendary hardware units with completely different characteristics: the iconic LA-3A solid-state optical compressor and the British classic Pye compressor, known for its exceptional mix-bus capabilities.

Powered by advanced custom DSP technology, AP COMP1 captures the incredibly smooth, fast program-dependent response and seamless gain reduction of the LA-3A, while inheriting the outstanding transparency, bite, and pristine note articulation of the vintage Pye. Dial in Rich Low-End Textures with the "RED" Control.

To push your tracks even further, AP COMP1 features the RED knob—a specialized saturation circuit designed to add thick, rich analog harmonic warmth to your low-mids. By focusing the saturation strictly between 200 Hz and 500 Hz, it injects a distinctive and cohesive low-mid texture without muddying your mix. It also features a dedicated ON/OFF switch for instant A/B comparison.

Gain: Makeup gain to restore level.

Threshold: Adjusts the point where compression begins.

Ratio: Selectable compression ratios to fit any material ($1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 8:1, 20:1$).

Red: Controls the amount of harmonic saturation in the 200 Hz–500 Hz range.

Red Standby Switch: Toggles the RED saturation circuit on or off.

By introducing selectable Ratios (a feature not found on the original LA-3A) while keeping the Attack and Release program-dependent/fixed, we have designed a streamlined, highly intuitive tool capable of everything from subtle leveling to extreme limiting and aggressive character shaping.
