Big Pump gets you loud by working the level itself. It lifts low level detail up so quiet information becomes audible and present, while gently shaving the peaks at the top, so the whole signal sits denser and louder without you reaching for a limiter. Because it follows the program instead of a threshold and a set of time constants, you get that density without the pumping, dulled transients, and attack/release juggling that come with compression. And unlike straight saturation, which piles harmonics onto the signal regardless of level, Big Pump's loudness comes from how it reshapes the level itself. The Modern and Vintage character is colour you add on top, not the thing doing the work.

The PUMP knob drives the whole effect, from subtle glue to maximum density. Underneath it, the 4D Modulation engine analyses four dimensions of the incoming signal continuously and decides how to react, so kicks land harder, vocals push forward, and the processing tracks what the music is actually doing. Even at low settings the engine is already shaping in time with the audio. The knob mostly controls how visible that motion is. A Push/Pull switch sets the direction: Push rests low and lifts the level on transients for classic upward pump, while Pull rests hot and ducks down for a tighter, more controlled feel, and switching between the two stays level matched. Boost lifts the curve ceiling so the same PUMP setting reaches a hotter, denser result, with the pump depth left untouched.

Four mode personalities cover different material: Fat is heavy and low frequency driven, Smooth is slow and glued, Tight is fast and transient reactive, Open is airy and driven by mids and highs. Switch between Modern for clean odd harmonic saturation and Vintage for asymmetric, tube style even harmonic warmth, with a second saturation layer adding transformer style colour on top.
