CUBEDRONE (CD-24 GROOVEBOX)

This is a groovebox system for Windows. VST3/Sample based host DAW Groovebox.

Its layout and system is mostly a clone from some hardware grooveboxes of all time but it has a personal style. You can add FX and master FX. The sequencer is step based and editing is possible only with mouse. By now no MIDI features are added but you get access to future downloads.

CUBEDRONE just changes your computer to Groovebox. Setting groups (18 of them) that are Patterns for sequences can be played live. Also the mixdown part is not there like computer DAWs usually have; there is a Record system where you either Perform your song or arrange it in song mode and Record it. So it resembles the magic of hardware music making from 90's and early 2000's.

It is very fun to play with it and building songs has a nice different angle compared to DAW. Even tracks are made MIDI mono by steps, you can link any track (24 tracks) to the VST on another track to make it like polyphonic. Well yeah, it has a working nice structure. The Setting groups can be triggered with mouse or from keyboard from 0-9 and F1-F8 So it makes 18 Pads. You can use Timing track loop length (usually set it 256 for all groups) to jam seamlessly from melodies or drums. The patterns changes but it continues from the exact place with quantized where it left from another pattern (Setting group). If you hold CTRL while trigger it starts the timing clock from start and you can rewind patterns. There are many other things in the system.

The song making is much more easier when you know all the tricks so check them from the site. Sample system is pretty nice also. You can adjust a root offset time for beginning of sample and also for every step you can adjust this individually. Press background image (right mouse button) to get a tool menu and press the setting groups same way to bring up another menu.

It might first look a bit slow to make a beat, but as you know what to do it is cool. There is also a simplified fast automation managing and recording system in CUBEDRONE.
