Curlo

Curlo is an AI-powered macOS audio asset manager for searching, previewing, organizing, and managing sound effect and music libraries.

It is designed for sound designers, video editors, game developers, music producers, and audio post-production workflows where local audio libraries can contain thousands of files across many folders, formats, and metadata standards.

Curlo uses local AI models running on the Mac to analyze and search audio files. This allows users to search by natural language descriptions, without needing to remember exact file names, folder locations, or manually assigned tags.

For example:

• "heavy rain on a tin roof".
• "footsteps on gravel".
• "gentle piano melody".

Audio files, search queries, tags, and metadata remain on the user's device. Curlo does not require uploading audio files to a cloud service for search or analysis.

Features:

Semantic and metadata search

Search by describing the sound you need, or use slash commands such as /filename, /tag, /ucs, and /format for more specific filtering.

Waveform preview and clip selection
Preview audio files in a zoomable waveform view, select a region, and export or drag the selected clip into DAWs.

Similar audio search
Find sounds in the library that have a similar sonic character to a selected audio file or selected region.

Tags and UCS categories
Organize files with custom tags and UCS categories. Curlo can assist with assigning tags and UCS categories to uncategorized files based on metadata and audio analysis.

Metadata editing
Read and edit audio metadata fields such as Artist, Album, Genre, Grouping, and UCS-related fields.

Collections
Group sounds by project, scene, mood, or workflow without changing the original folder structure on disk.

Filtering and sorting
Filter and sort files by duration, format, sample rate, bit depth, channel count, and other audio properties.

Local API
Use Curlo's localhost HTTP API to integrate search and asset access into scripts or studio automation workflows.

Audio format support
Curlo supports common audio formats including WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, CAF, RF64, OGG, OPUS, and more.
