The Erica Synths DJ VCF Stereo is a unique and performance-oriented stereo filter module for Eurorack systems, inspired by the intuitive filtering found on professional DJ mixers. This module brings a hands-on, playable approach to filtering, making it an excellent choice for live electronic music performance and dynamic sound shaping in the studio. The DJ VCF Stereo is designed to be immediately accessible, allowing for expressive and dramatic filter sweeps with a single, central control. Its all-analog signal path ensures a warm, rich, and musical sound that can add character and movement to stereo stems, drum busses, or full mixes within a modular environment.
The core concept of the DJ VCF Stereo revolves around its central cutoff knob. In its 12 o'clock position, the filter is fully open, allowing the audio to pass through unaffected. Turning the knob counter-clockwise engages a lush 24dB/octave low-pass filter, smoothly attenuating the high frequencies. Conversely, turning the knob clockwise introduces a crisp 24dB/octave high-pass filter, cutting the low frequencies. This single-knob, dual-filter design is incredibly intuitive for creating build-ups, drops, and other dynamic transitions. The module also features a resonance control that adds a musical peak at the cutoff frequency, allowing you to accentuate harmonics and create classic resonant sweeps. For modulation, the DJ VCF Stereo includes two CV inputs for the cutoff frequency, one of which has an attenuverter, providing flexible control from external sources like LFOs, envelopes, or sequencers. This combination of manual playability and CV control makes the DJ VCF Stereo a versatile and powerful tool for any modular artist.
