Distortion Meets Modulation

Whether it is subtle saturation or extreme overdrive, distortion is often at the heart of the very best productions & mixes.

DriveMod takes the traditional distortion plugin one step further, combining heated overdrive with added life and movement. Choose from six types of distortion, shape your signal with filtering and gain, then modulate the results with custom-drawn LFO shapes.

What can DriveMod do?:

The Core Components

DriveMod contains all the fundamental controls for dialling in distortion. Use the Drive control to push and distort the signal, use the Destroy parameter to fully smash up any audio, and use the tone control to weight the distortion's energy. DriveMod also includes an auto-gain for automatically balancing your output signal, and some intelligent under-the-hood oversampling to retain optimum sound quality.

DriveMod's main interface also features a stereo panner and filter that allows you to take the wet distortion signal, filter it to a precise frequency band, then place it in the stereo field.

The Distortion Algorithms

The six onboard distortion algorithms each feature a different personality for adding grit and texture to your audio.

Digital - Classic bitcrusher distortion, that allows for precise control over the quantising effect. Ranges from a subtle noise to a gritty distortion.

Tube - This distortion mimics the effect produced by high-gain guitar pre-amps, that ranges from a warm overdrive to a crisp distortion. Perfect for adding warm colour to sounds.

Diode - A modern version of the classic diode-clipper distortion that allows for fine control of the shaping character. This versatile distortion offers a tone range that goes from modern bright to vintage fuzz.

Lin Fold - This digital distortion style linearly folds the signal up and down in a periodic fashion, giving it an FM-like character for achieving an array of twisted sounds.

Zero Sq - This distortion creates random square waves interleaved within the original signal. Use this to destroy your sound beyond recognition.

Rectify - The classic rectification folds the negative side of the signal over the positive side, adding harmonics to your signal one octave up from the original.

Modulate your Distortion

After you have dialled in your distortion sound, the Movement panel is where you can add movement to any parameter using the LFOs. With draw-your-own modulator shapes, you can customize an LFO's shape to fully suit the music you're working on. DriveMod also offers playhead reversal, waveform smoothing and pulse width modulation for fine-tuning the effect.
