DroneDie

DroneDie is an unofficial software emulation of the Grendel Drone Commander Classic, a legendary analog hardware drone synthesizer. It faithfully recreates the dual-oscillator engine, the nonlinear Moog Ladder Filter with self-oscillation, and the distinctive PLL Pulse circuit that generates rhythmic filter modulation locked to the LFO rate — producing thick, evolving, grinding drone textures.

Dual VCO engine (20–360 Hz) with PolyBLEP anti-aliasing and analog drift simulation.

Square and Triangle waveforms per oscillator with continuous Mix crossfader.

Four-pole Moog Ladder Filter (Huovilainen model) with tanh saturation — 24 dB/oct lowpass.

HIGH and LOW filter range modes — LOW range enables filter self-oscillation.

LFO (0.05–10 Hz) with Click-to-Ramp shape morphing and DAW tempo sync.

PLL Pulse generator (×2 / ×4 / ×8 / ×16 multiplier) emulating hardware lock-on behaviour.

Pre-filter Drive Skrew for warm saturation to heavy overdrive.

External Audio Input mode — use DroneDie as a vintage ladder filter effect.

Full MIDI support: 2-note polyphony for OSC pitch, CC mapping, Mod Wheel LFO control.

All 20 parameters fully automatable via DAW.
